Senate confirms Joseph Sullivan to Public Utilities Commission

Saint Paul — The Minnesota Senate confirmed Joseph Sullivan to a six-year term on the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission after the Energy Committee recommended confirmation unanimously.
Sen. Nick Frentz, presenting the committee report, said the Energy Committee recommended Sullivan's confirmation with support from both Democrats and Republicans and listed letters of support on senators' desks, including endorsements from LIUNA Laborers, Legal Aid, Fresh Energy, the Minnesota Rural Electric Association and the Citizens Utility Board. "Commissioner Sullivan has been a trusted and successful member of the Public Utilities Commission since 2020," Frentz said, urging confirmation.
There was no recorded roll-call tally on the floor transcript for the final confirmation vote; the motion carried and the appointment was confirmed by the Senate.
The Senate's action advances Sullivan's appointment for the PUC for the additional six-year term described on the floor.
