The trustee said the request was prompted by an incident at a recent Logan graduation where an elderly family member lacked a nearby seat and nearly fell. “I’d like to request dedicated seats for our staff, students and their families with disabilities as well as seniors of 70 years or older during all our school promotions, graduations convocations or any event organized by our schools or districts,” the trustee said.
Board members responded that ADA-compliant seating is normally provided at school events and that they would follow up to ensure designated seating is available. The superintendent acknowledged the concern and the board indicated consensus on taking steps to address it.
No formal motion or vote was recorded on this request; the board moved on after confirming intent to ensure seating accommodations.
