The reorganization was completed by a series of motions and voice votes. After nominations, the board voted in favor of each leadership appointment; the chair reported the items passed unanimously.
The new president, Julian Ceros, thanked his colleagues and outlined immediate priorities for the board. "My biggest goal is to work with all governing agencies whether it is the state, our city, as well as the federal government to ensure that we advocate to protect the institution of education here," Ceros said, adding that protecting Title I funds and ensuring fiscal accountability will be central to the board's work.
Dr. Gary Hardy Jr., who was elected vice president, addressed the audience after being sworn in and framed his return to the board in personal terms: "I was born and raised here going through Lynwood schools ... it is a super incredible honor to be able to serve my community," he said. Hardy emphasized continuity on projects already underway, including the new classroom building and student supports.
