Teachers' union urges district help for sixth‑grade teachers after textbook delay

“Teachers are limited in prep time,” the representative said, noting it’s unreasonable to expect teachers to spend valuable preparation time photocopying textbooks for students. BEA requested the district check in with sixth‑grade teachers, provide training where needed, and make photocopies available so teaching and student learning are not disrupted.
District staff acknowledged the delay and said they will follow up with site leaders to ensure teachers have training and materials support.
Next steps: BEA asked for district outreach to affected teachers, and trustees requested updates on mitigation steps before the next board meeting.
