Borough engineers and administrators told commissioners the borough has advanced several capital projects and applications for outside funding that could affect local flooding and coastal resilience efforts.
The borough was notified that a grant allocation of about $159,000 was made toward the Reconstruction of Stockton Road, the engineering update said. The borough’s engineer also reported that two FEMA projects tied to recent work are in active documentation review with roughly $20–30 million of grant funding pending; borough staff continue to provide materials to FEMA as requested.
Officials said the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank (NJIBank) sewer and roadway improvement project cleared step two of the agency’s process and could be in line for up to approximately $3 million if subsequent steps and a letter of intent proceed as expected.
The Bayside Pump Station flood mitigation project is expected to begin work around Nov. 25, the administrator said, though a few property access agreements remain outstanding. Staff noted manufacturing lead times for key valves and other equipment that affect the later phases of the project.
Sunset Lake dredging (Phase 2, Wildwood Crest portion) remains in a real‑estate acquisition stage, with the borough scheduled to meet next week with the state maritime office for a timeline update. Administrators said an environmental consultant will submit a dune restoration proposal next week; that project is expected to go out to bid as a spring construction item.
The borough also confirmed receipt of a $342,000 small‑cities DCA ADA grant for interior bathroom renovations at borough facilities and said it will need to relocate public and employee facilities temporarily when work begins.
Officials emphasized that several items remain contingent on third‑party approvals and additional paperwork: the engineer and administrator asked residents to submit comments on the 95% dune/beach plans by the borough’s stated deadline to ensure those comments are considered by the state and the Army Corps.
Next steps: staff to finalize comment packages for state review, complete outstanding property access agreements for pump‑station work and proceed with required bidding and procurement steps once funding and approvals are confirmed.
