Allendale council introduces $995,000 capital bond and two parking ordinances

The Allendale mayor and council introduced three ordinances at their Jan. 23 combined work and regular session, including a capital bond that would appropriate $995,000 for public improvements.
Clerk Linda Serina read Ordinance 25-01, described as a capital bond ordinance to appropriate $995,000 for various public improvements in the borough, including work on the concession stand and some dispatching system components. The council voted to introduce the ordinance on first reading; the clerk said the ordinance will be published Jan. 29 and taken up for final passage at the Feb. 13 meeting.
The council also introduced Ordinance 25-02 and Ordinance 25-03, both amendments to chapter 22-9 of the borough code (vehicles and traffic). The purpose of the traffic ordinances, as previewed by the mayor, is to enable parking enforcement at the new community center and to establish a no-parking restriction on West Allendale Avenue. Both ordinances were introduced on first reading, will be published Jan. 29 and scheduled for final consideration Feb. 13.
All votes on the three introductions were recorded as affirmative during the roll-call votes taken after each reading. No final passage or changes were adopted at the Jan. 23 meeting; final action is set for the Feb. 13 meeting.
The introductions come as the borough moves to open its new community center to Allendale residents and begin related operations, a topic discussed elsewhere on the agenda.
