The Concord Select Board voted April 13 to approve the charge for a seven‑member MCI Master Plan Committee and later approved Select Board nominations to staff the initial membership. The committee will oversee development of a comprehensive master plan for the MCI site and related public engagement.
"We want frequent briefings to the Select Board," the board added during discussion, and approved language requiring regular updates and a deliverable schedule to support the impending consultant work. Key dates identified earlier in the meeting include a public engagement event May 5 at the Goodwin Forum and a design charrette the week of June 8.
After debate about balancing housing, planning, commercial development and transportation skills, the board voted to advance Select Board nominees John Boon, Aaron Kusker, Dan Gainesboro, Matt Johnson, Sven Weber and Burton Flint. The board emphasized the need for membership to include planning/land‑use experience, public‑engagement skills and housing/development expertise to move quickly (some planning grant and funding deadlines were noted).
The committee charge specifies duties, reporting cadence and a timeline for the organizational and legal review phases; the Select Board also directed staff to recruit additional volunteer members consistent with the approved charge. The vote was recorded and the board will follow up with volunteer application collection and onboarding.
