Greer council approves easement conveyances, accepts new streets, transfers retired K‑9 and names courtroom

Greer — The council approved a set of largely noncontroversial items that concluded the March meeting: easement conveyances, subdivision street acceptances, a retired police K‑9 transfer and a ceremonial courtroom naming.
On consent, council approved second and final readings of Ordinances 9‑2026, 10‑2026 and 11‑2026 authorizing conveyances of easements for sanitary sewer, permanent power and domestic water at the sports complex. Council members recorded unanimous votes to receive each measure.
Staff recommended acceptance into the city street system of several newly constructed subdivision streets after inspection — Vines Creek subdivision streets (Reed Reader Road, Bow Fin Street, Red Fin Road, Vines Creek Drive, Hickory Shad Court), Donahghue (Donahue) Hills subdivision streets (Don Hill Drive, Naen Way, Sindis Lane, Alis Drive, Alvin Pond Drive) and Chartwell Estates (Chartwell Drive). Staff noted bonds, as‑built requirements and two‑year warranties typically apply; Chartwell Gate Drive’s stamped concrete entrance is not being accepted until it is replaced with asphalt or otherwise made maintainable by the city.
Council approved a resolution conveying a retired city K‑9 to Officer Cody Gould, the dog’s handler, after the animal aged out of service. The item was described as a routine transfer agreement.
Finally, council adopted Resolution 12‑2026 to name the municipal courtroom the Henry J. Mims Courtroom in recognition of Judge Mims’s years of service; councilmembers praised his career and said retirement‑related events will be planned.
All items were approved by recorded vote where applicable.
