District presents midyear LCAP update showing mixed progress on metrics and pending expenditures

District staff summarized the midyear Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025, explaining that some metrics lag a year because of reporting cycles and that several planned expenditures remain encumbered.
Miss Hunenberg, described the budget baseline and a midyear apportionment change to LCFF supplemental and concentration funds. Staff reported that 40% of high school students are enrolled in honors/Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate courses, and that CTE enrollment is at 30% toward a 40% goal. The district also reported year-to-date attendance at about 96% and cited chronic absenteeism and suspension-rate goals that are not yet met.
Jasmine Chavez Diaz and other staff reviewed actions tied to goals (academic programs, expanded supports, CTE pathways), noting some actions are "fully implemented" operationally but expenditures appear as zero in the midyear report because invoices or encumbrances were not yet processed.
Trustees asked for clearer status indicators and subgroup breakdowns (English learners, foster youth, socioeconomically disadvantaged) and asked staff to provide further disaggregated participation data for ELOP and tutoring. The board also discussed interventionist hires for middle-school math and how tutoring and intervention will be monitored.
No formal vote was taken on LCAP metrics; trustees requested follow-up reports, a clearer visual column on whether metrics are being met, and additional data on who is being served by expanded learning programs.
"Some of the metrics are based on the previous year," staff said, noting the district will update P2 apportionment and final accounting in April and again at the end of the LCAP cycle.
