Keep Oconee County Beautiful announced a monthlong June tire amnesty at the Highway 441 site south of Farmington, the group said during a brief announcement. Cindy Pritchard, with Keep Oconee County Beautiful, said the program will run 17 days during June and is intended to give residents a convenient way to dispose of tires and certain batteries.
"Today, I would like to tell you [we're] excited to share that we're having a June tire amnesty," Pritchard said. She said the collection will take place at the Highway 441 location south of Farmington and will operate Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 to 4:30.
Pritchard said residents may bring up to four auto or truck tires per visit. The event will also accept auto and boat batteries, and small batteries will be collected at all four sites each day, she said. Residents with questions were invited to contact Keep Oconee County Beautiful for more information.
The announcement closed with a request for community cooperation. "Thank you for what you do to keep Oconee County clean, green, and beautiful," Pritchard said.
