Board recognizes retiring staff, JROTC units, veterans and community groups

At its May 12 meeting the Solano County Board of Supervisors adopted a series of ceremonial resolutions recognizing long‑serving county employees, youth JROTC programs, veteran commemorations, LGBTQ+ Pride Month and local wine industry contributors.
The board presented a plaque to Charles Palomares, senior engineering technician in Resource Management, for more than 36 years of service; colleagues described his institutional knowledge and impact on county records. Later the board recognized Susan Jamira Kosar for 36 years in Employment & Eligibility Services; deputy director Alicia Jones said Kosar ‘‘was there when I started in E and E in 1998’’ and praised her advocacy for clients.
Other adopted items included proclamations for Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15) and Police Appreciation Week, a Memorial Day proclamation for May 25, 2026, and recognition of Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps units at Armijo, Vanden, Jesse Bethel and Fairfield high schools; cadet leaders thanked the board. The board also adopted a Pride Month resolution and authorized flying the pride flag at the County Government Center in June. Local vintners from Suisun Valley accepted recognition for National Wine Day.
Those items were adopted by unanimous consent or roll call votes and involved brief remarks, photo opportunities, and invitations for community engagement. The employee of the month award for Ellen Hudson (General Services) was also presented.
