Fernley council approves lease with Boys & Girls Club for Community Response and Resource Center

The approval came after brief clarifying remarks from council members about rental administration. Councilman Torres moved to approve the lease and Councilman Lau seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The motion text before the council authorized the lease as presented and the recorded vote was 5-0 in favor.
Mike Worm, identified in the meeting as president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club, thanked the council and city staff for their work and said the Club was "very excited about continuing our partnership" with the City of Fernley. Club representative Oscar Aguilar recounted meeting a longtime club parent who "was in complete tears but tears of joy" after seeing the facility, underscoring the local significance of the center.
Council members described the lease and opening of the facility as an important step for youth programming in Fernley, praising the work of staff and council members who advanced the project.
