Board hears facilities update; HVAC replacements for Fisher and Van Meter to use CMAS procurement

The district intends to use CMAS (California Multiple Award Schedule) for some procurements to expedite long-lead items and prequalified vendor services, the presenter said: "CMAS is... a program that any state agency can use, schools, counties... It's a process that allows you to procure product that may be long lead."
Board discussion touched on project costs and DSA fees. A staff member noted the district paid approximately $70,000 in DSA application fees for the projects. On project size, staff described the two-school HVAC effort as an estimate of about $9,000,000 in construction costs combined and said CMAS includes several vendors with the same pricing menu so the district can choose local divisions under that schedule.
Questions from trustees focused on whether CMAS would apply to all three planned projects, whether labor as well as hardware was included for specific vendors, and how many CMAS vendors would be available locally; staff responded that some vendors offer both hardware and labor and that multiple CMAS vendors exist nationwide with local divisions.
This item was presented as an informational update and not an action item; staff said procurement and final project reconciliation (including any additional DSA invoices) will occur as projects move toward construction.
