At its Jan. 13 meeting the Haines Borough Code Review Commission approved the minutes from its July 7 meeting and, after an agreed amendment, the December 3 minutes. A commissioner asked the clerk to add a short bullet documenting the content of a verbal update noted in the clerk's report; members accepted that addition and approved the December 3 minutes.
The commission opened nominations for chair and vice chair. Several members said they could not or did not want to serve as chair at this time; members also concluded it would be inappropriate to nominate someone not present for consent. A motion to postpone the election of chair and vice chair to the commission’s March meeting carried by voice vote.
The commission set a tentative date of March 4 for the next meeting and discussed start‑time options (members proposed 05:30 or 06:00/06:30), agreeing to schedule March 4 at 05:30 unless an absent member requests a later start time. The meeting adjourned after completing the evening’s business.
Votes at a glance: approve July 7 minutes — approved; approve December 3 minutes as amended — approved; postpone election of chair/vice chair to March meeting — approved.
