Students from Mount Diablo Unified’s IB sites showcase projects and community partnerships

Students from the district’s IB World Schools spoke to the board on April 22 about year‑end projects and community learning experiences. Kelly Hoover, district IB coordinator, introduced site teams and noted this is the first year with four fully authorized IB World Schools in the district.
Elementary students presented short PYP project lines of inquiry on sustainable development goals including clean and affordable energy and zero hunger; several students said their projects encouraged community action and civic engagement. Oak Grove eighth‑grade students presented a community project focusing on animal shelter needs and described teamwork and service outcomes. High‑school IB candidates described cross‑school Q&As that expanded college and career planning.
Trustees applauded the students and invited them to display projects at a public exhibition on May 15. The presentations were framed as part of the district’s broader emphasis on inquiry‑based learning and college preparation.
