Council approves several ordinances and consent agenda including housing element endorsement

At its April 20 meeting, the Township Council adopted several ordinances on second reading and approved consent resolutions.
Ordinance 26-06, addressing the clothing allowance for officers and firefighters for 2026, was opened for second reading, saw no public comment, and was adopted. Councilman Sears recused himself from the vote on 26-06; the roll call recorded Councilman Cascio yes, Councilwoman Velez yes and Councilman Noman yes.
Ordinance 26-07, to exceed the municipal budget appropriations limit and establish a CAP bank under NJSA 40A:4-45, was opened for public hearing, received no public comment and was adopted by unanimous roll call.
Ordinance 26-09 (chapter 87), setting rates of compensation and manner of payment for township employees for 2026, was also approved on second reading as part of the consent agenda.
The consent agenda included Resolution 26-236 endorsing the amended 2026 housing element and fair share plan (dated Feb. 18, 2026–Mar. 31, 2026) and Resolution 26-237 authorizing cancellation of current and future property tax liability for a U.S. veteran with permanent disability (block 2320, lot 1). All consent items were approved by roll call.
The council noted that any item could be removed from the consent agenda for separate consideration, but no removals were requested that evening. The council adjourned the public portion and moved into the conference agenda and later into closed session for a settlement discussion.
