The Town of Irmo council approved two separate annexations during its April 21 meeting.
Ordinance 26-08 annexes approximately 44 acres encompassing parcel TMS R04004-01-02 at 200 Ministry Drive into the town with a requested CG (General Commercial) zoning; the applicant indicated the structure currently contains multiple businesses seeking town services. The ordinance passed on second and final reading by roll call.
Ordinance 26-09 annexes about 21.78 acres (parcels R03206-01-11 and R03206-01-12) on Drea Scholes Road north of Leington Way; parcel R03206-01-11 requested FA (Fringe Agricultural, defined in discussion as roughly one house per acre) zoning while R03206-01-12 requested RS (single-family residential). Council members discussed prior concerns and ultimately moved to approve the annexation by roll call.
Lisa recorded the votes for both ordinances as unanimous: Mr. Ward — yes; Mr. Penfield — yes; Miss Coleman — yes; Dr. Waldman — yes; Mayor Daniels — yes.
Staff noted the planning commission had reviewed and recommended approval prior to the council readings; any site-specific approvals, utility connections or subdivision matters will follow standard permitting and planning procedures.
