The Pavilion City Council used part of its April 21 meeting for community presentations, proclaiming April 24, 2026, as Arbor Day and receiving a legislative resolution honoring Mayor David P. Black.
Mayor David P. Black read and enacted a proclamation recognizing Arbor Day and describing the local Hack Park Arboretum (noting over 120 species on display) and the city’s 37-year Tree City USA status. Tony from the parks department noted that the city received a $3,000 NRD grant to plant 30 trees at Pavilion Landing softball field and highlighted the Arbor Day poster contest featuring elementary students. The Arbor Day event was scheduled for April 24 at 1 p.m. at Hack Park.
State Senator John Arch (identified in the meeting as Speaker of the Legislature) read Legislative Resolution 394, which commended Mayor Black’s 17 years of service and listed accomplishments including partnerships that facilitated new economic investments and public projects.
