Superintendent Kakish told the Beaumont Unified board the district is prepared for the 2024–25 school year, reporting a busy August calendar and recent staff training events. Kakish said over 80 team members attended a two-day leadership symposium focused on the Arbinger Institute’s "outward mindset," and that the district hosted a three‑day certificated-staff orientation the previous week for dozens of new hires.
Kakish directed the public to the district calendar on the website, which lists open houses and school opening events. He confirmed the opening of schools is scheduled for Aug. 8 and that a district welcome-back event for staff will take place the following morning at the high school gymnasium.
Board members responded with appreciation for the preparatory work. Trustees and staff praised the leadership workshop and the level of preparation across departments — instructional services, human resources, business, special education and student services — and noted the visible site-level readiness across campuses.
Trustees also thanked staff and local partners for small but visible safety improvements: Mr Mitchell called out freshly repainted crosswalks near Mountain View as a contribution to student safety. The meeting adjourned after brief additional remarks.
