Staff explained the funds will be managed by Douglas County and applied primarily toward training — for example, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) courses for officers and clinicians — and related startup costs for the program that pairs officers with clinicians to respond to mental‑health calls.
Council members asked how often the town has used CRT recently and staff said the program is a frequently used community resource but did not provide a specific recent-use count in the meeting. Several council members said they supported accepting county-managed funds to bolster local CRT training and capacity.
The resolution passed unanimously. Staff said Douglas County will coordinate eligible payments and the town will work with the county on program details.
