At its May 12 meeting in Tallulah, the Madison Parish Police Jury moved through routine business and several administrative approvals.
Juror Jerry Hicks moved to approve the consent agenda — which included minutes from April 28, building reports for April, financial summaries, the garbage and sewer report, and the outstanding invoice report — and Juror Dave Wilson seconded; the motion carried. The Secretary/Treasurer, Margarett Dew, then requested permission to pay all outstanding invoices based on available funds; Dave Wilson moved to authorize payment as funds allow and Jerry Hicks seconded; motion carried.
The jury also approved buying uniform shirts for the Administration Office using either Sales Tax or Building Fund money after a motion by Jerry Hicks and second by Dave Wilson. Jurors reported district concerns and Superintendent Epps gave a departmental report.
During road maintenance discussion, Jerry Hicks moved and Dave Wilson seconded a motion to clean out the ditch on East Bear Lake Road; motion carried. Superintendent Epps requested authorization to enter a 36-month lease for a Kobelco SK 140 SR excavator at $2,950.00 per month; Jerry Hicks moved to approve the lease, Dave Wilson seconded, and the motion carried.
Finally, Mr. S. Ogden offered a motion, seconded by Jerry Hicks, to revise the Parish Capitalization Policy by raising the capitalization threshold from $2,000 to $5,000; the jury approved the change. These administrative steps were recorded in the minutes and several motions were noted as carried in the transcript.
