The Ordinance Committee moved a block of ceremonial resolutions recognizing local award winners and veterans and forwarded them to the full council with favorable recommendations.
Councilor Stephanie Infante read a packet of Exchange Club honorees, including a resolution honoring firefighter Patrick Driscoll for 37 years of service (Item 9526) and police officers Janelli Bonet and Arikea Southworth for lifesaving response (Items 9626/9726); the committee agreed to forward those items and to hold one EMT resolution pending additional documentation.
Councilor Malang read the names of Lawrence service members buried at Netherlands, Cambridge and Arden American cemeteries and asked that the committee send the cemetery resolutions to the full council so they may be presented to American Battle Monuments Commission cemetery directors during upcoming visits; the committee bundled three cemetery resolutions into a single block and forwarded them.
The committee also moved Roomba newspaper's 30th-anniversary recognition (Item 9426) to full council; a roll-call vote recorded one “no” (Councilor Franklin Miguel) but the motion carried.
These ceremonial items will be taken up by the full council for final adoption and presentation.
