Doña Ana County says spring career fair drew strong turnout and bilingual outreach

Doña Ana County leadership said the county’s first spring career fair brought departments together to showcase services, highlight vacancies and connect directly with the public, including Spanish‑speaking residents.

Officials described turnout as positive, with departments such as Roads and DASO bringing equipment displays and demonstrations that helped residents understand county operations. Organizers emphasized that the fair was intentionally a county-only event so departments could educate the public about services and career paths; they said they plan to hold the event each spring and expand outreach through digital communications next year.

Speakers said attendees praised bilingual materials and bilingual staff at the fair, which helped non‑English speakers navigate booths and apply for positions. Staff also provided maps and information packets so visitors could more easily find departments and explore job opportunities.

Organizers said the fair had activities for children and a strong educational component that increased community awareness of county services, from vector control science displays to demonstrations of road maintenance equipment. The division reported positive feedback from both departments and the public and signaled plans to refine promotion and logistics with digital communications ahead of next year’s event.

The Talent and Culture leaders also noted the county’s use of community partnerships, including an internship program with DACC (Doña Ana Community College), to create pathways from education to county employment.
