Medina County dog shelter reports 100% placement in year-to-date intake; annual stats show no euthanasia

Dell, a staff member at the Medina County dog shelter, gave an operations update and outcome statistics for the shelter’s recent intakes and the prior calendar year.
From Dec. to March 1 the shelter recorded 41 dog intakes (36 strays, four owner surrenders and one police hold). Of those, 16 were adopted, 16 returned to owners and five were placed with rescues; the shelter reported nine dogs in care at the time of the meeting. Dell said the average stray-hold period is about four days and credited volunteers (approximately 280 volunteer hours in the period) with supporting adoptions and care.
For calendar year 2025 the shelter reported 197 dogs impounded: 84 adoptions, 93 redemptions to owners, 14 placements with rescue organizations and zero euthanized, which the shelter described as a 100% placement outcome for that reporting period.
Commissioners and staff praised shelter volunteers and noted upcoming volunteer events; no board action was required.
