Medina County commissioners approve routine contracts, personnel actions and $1.74 million in bills

Medina County commissioners on Tuesday approved a package of routine departmental resolutions, including equipment purchases, contract extensions, personnel changes and weekly bills totaling $1,744,272.72.

Dan Becker, the county engineer, presented two resolutions authorsing the purchase of a new model-year pickup truck for the engineer's office and granting a variance for the Hillsong Subdivision Phase 2; the board moved and approved both items. Jeremy Sinco, the sanitary engineer, asked for and received approval for four measures: a one-year extension for hauling and disposal of biosolids and related liquid waste services; a one-year extension for a polymer emulsion product used at the Kenneth Ho water reclamation facility; authorization to contract with Dixon Engineering for design services to rehab the Chadam elevated storage tank; and approval to upgrade lighting at the Hinckley wastewater treatment plant through competitive bidding.

Human Resources manager Holly Mirren presented personnel changes that included one new hire in transit, eight rate increases (four in sanitary), two promotions and several transfers and returns from leave; commissioners approved the personnel resolution.

County Administrator Matt Springer presented three finance items: authorization to purchase 7,000 gallons of regular unleaded fuel (low bidder noted), allowance of county official expenses (no out-of-state travel reported), and weekly approval of bills totaling $1,744,272.72; the board approved the package. Springer also received authorization to negotiate electric rates for the Medina County facility-aggregation program and will return with a final resolution next week after receiving quotes.

Commissioners recorded roll-call approvals on the items presented and said staff will bring any required follow-up documents to the next meeting.

The meeting adjourned after additional departmental updates and public comment.
