Putnam County schools report 5,000+ survey responses, seek board workshop to shape strategic plan

District staff gave a strategic-planning update noting extensive community input and requested a board workshop to prioritize next steps.
Jonathan Hanky told the board the district’s education-element surveys closed on Feb. 13 with over 5,000 responses: 1,682 from elementary students (grades 4–6), 2,176 from secondary students (grades 7–12), 633 from parents/community members and 569 from district employees. He described a March 2 focus group that included parents, community members and partners such as the Putnam County Education Foundation and St. Johns River State College.
Hanky asked the board to schedule a strategic-planning workshop on April 14 or 15 to review survey results, recently released college and career-acceleration data, and performance indicators. He said the process will continue through what staff hope will be a June or July final plan.
Board members discussed scheduling options and preferred an April 14 workshop before the regular meeting; staff agreed to circulate firm times and materials in advance so members can review data ahead of the session.
