Bellbrook-Sugarcreek board unanimously recognizes Supportive Peers program

The board’s resolution praised the program for creating “meaningful opportunities for all students to build friendships, strengthen social skills and promote understanding,” and commended students, staff and community volunteers for their contributions. The board moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by a 5–0 roll-call vote.
Mrs. Rivera, who the board singled out for leadership of the program, thanked students, families and staff for their work and said the recognition was intended to support the program’s sustainability. “We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the kids,” she said, adding appreciation for parental and staff involvement.
Board members spoke in turn about the program’s long-term benefits, noting its expansion from a high-school initiative into buildings districtwide and its role in shaping culture and student service. One board member said the program is “a long haul” effort that should be sustained beyond individual leaders.
The resolution commits the district to continuing administrative and public support for Supportive Peers and to promoting its visibility across school buildings. No additional funding or operational changes were specified in the motion.
The board proceeded to the rest of its agenda after the recognition.
