The board then recognized four Eagle Scouts for their community projects. Scouts described projects that included activity tables for an intermediate-school playground, 20 story boards installed on a playground fence to encourage outdoor reading, four flower boxes for a local charitable pantry, a playground fence to retain mulch, flag retirement boxes for Johnson County public libraries and nine treated picnic tables for a community center.
A district official nominated Nana Holloway for a "You Make a Difference" award, praising her support for the district's farm-to-school program, her work connecting the district to local farmers and her volunteer help transporting produce for school meals. The board presented a certificate and a small token of appreciation.
The board and attendees also congratulated student athletes and performers for recent achievements including a state-level diving finish and a well-received middle-school production.
