The Leander ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously Thursday night to name Dr. Chris Clark the lone finalist for the district's superintendent position.
Trish Bodin moved to name Dr. Chris Clark as the lone finalist and Laura Marquez seconded the motion; the board recorded seven "ayes" and the motion passed. After the vote the board recessed for a reception honoring Clark.
Dr. Clark accepted the designation and spoke to trustees, staff and community members in attendance, framing the role as a commitment to the district's students and employees. "I accept this role not just as a professional honor, but as a commitment, a commitment to 42,000 students who attend school every day in this district. 5,600 staff members who choose to work here and the families of those students and the families of those staff members," he said.
Clark acknowledged budget pressures the district faces and said they will guide his priorities. "We face some significant challenges, specifically with our budget," he said, adding that central office would work to remove barriers so school-based staff can focus on students. He also said he was committed to "transparency and communication that informs you in a timely manner."
Board members did not extend the motion for further discussion after the vote. The board recessed for a 30-minute reception at the Geiger Center to congratulate Clark; the meeting later returned to complete remaining agenda items.
Next steps indicated in the meeting record: the vote named Clark as the lone finalist for superintendent. Any final contract or employment action will be taken in open session consistent with board procedures and Texas law.
