Hancock County Public Library reports 21,000 cardholders and increased digital use in annual update to board

Kyle Turpin, marketing manager for the Hancock County Public Library, briefed the board on library usage and services, saying the system had "over 21,000 card holders as of December 31st" and nearly 460,000 visits across branches and the bookmobile last year.
Turpin highlighted the library’s program reach — 874 events with 19,190 attendees — and digital circulation, with about one-third of checkouts coming from ebooks and audiobooks. The library reported 466 bookmobile stops that served approximately 17,930 people and said new services such as student digital access cards and classroom special collections have expanded school support.
Turpin also outlined expanded online resources and one-on-one services: the library reinstated tutor.com after a trial with another vendor and reported 665 one-on-one tutoring sessions last year. The library recently updated its website and mobile app to be WCAG 2.0 compliant to improve accessibility.
The presentation closed with an offer to support district classrooms through special collections and remote locker pickup in Eastern Hancock for residents who cannot easily reach a branch.
