Board hears cautious revenue forecast, discusses Apple lease for student devices and approves Walker Career Center CTE agreement

The Greenfield-Central board received a financial and instructional briefing that combined conservative revenue planning with program updates.

Mr. Day told trustees, "I have projected a 10% decrease in property tax collections," and described cost-saving steps including a planned 10% reduction in outsourced grounds services and postponement of some summer capital projects. He said the district would rather err on the side of caution when projecting state aid and property tax revenues.

On technology, administrators said they are in talks with Apple about a possible lease to replace aging devices for grades 7–12 and that the board could see a lease execution request in April. "If this does work out, we'll probably come back to you in April to execute an Apple lease," the presenter said.

Instructional staff reported a shift in state summer-school funding toward elementary literacy programs; the high school will rely more on online credit-recovery options. The board voted to approve a career-and-technical-education (CTE) agreement with Walker Career Center that will allow some students to complete programs not yet offered at the Hancock County Career Center (HC3).

Audits are nearing completion, officials said, and a State Board of Accounts ECA review concluded favorably with an exit conference expected soon.

The board approved routine financial motions including the claims docket and the CTE agreement, and staff said administrators will return with any formal device-lease requests after further negotiation and teacher input.
