Chandler said he had spoken with schools near the station and is concerned that easy access to alcohol could increase risks for teenagers. "Selling alcohol, that's a big concern to me because... I have nieces and nephews that are like in the teenage range, I am concerned about their safety," he said. Chandler referenced a prior January meeting where Hilltop neighbors opposed alcohol sales and asked commissioners to consider community input when projects come before the body.
The comment was delivered in the public comment period; no formal action on the Chevron matter was taken at the meeting.
