Franklin County High School spotlights extracurricular programs; staff and students honored

She highlighted the girls basketball program (21 athletes), FCCLA state-level success and national qualifiers, the programming, robotics (VEX V5) and esports teams, and a historic girls wrestling season that produced the program's first female wrestler to qualify for the state championship. Miss South also thanked community donors whose fundraising generated more than $10,000 to renovate varsity basketball locker rooms.
Staff and student honors: The board named Dr. Dylan Huber, a special-education teacher at Franklin County High School, certified educator of the month, citing eight years of service and a student nomination praising Huber's support. Huber, not present, was quoted in the meeting reading: "I can honestly say that my... favorite thing about my job is showing students that I truly care about them and I am someone who always will always be there for them." The board also recognized Jennifer (Jenny) Weaver as support staff of the month for her work as a long-term substitute at Mount Carmel Elementary; a parent nomination described Weaver's strong communication and classroom support for kindergarten families.
Student achievements covered included multiple first-place finishes by science and language arts teams and solo-and-ensemble music golds, with coaches and sponsors crediting student perseverance despite limited rehearsal windows. The board repeatedly praised students and coaches for teamwork and dedication.
