Beech Grove board weighs bond refunding, approves emergency pay and handbook; at least one member voices opposition

"The proposed refunding of the 2016 bonds would allow Beach Grove City Schools to take advantage of more favorable market conditions and reduce the amount of interest paid on the remaining debt," Hammock said. She added that standard legal steps — including reapproval of the building corporation and a supplement to the master continuing disclosure undertaking — were part of the process to remain compliant with municipal bond reporting requirements.
The board approved a request to provide emergency compensation for hourly employees who did not report to work on Feb. 23 due to a closure connected to services for Officer Brian Elliot; Hammock characterized the closure as "no fault of their own." The board also moved to approve employment recommendations submitted by staff and to reapprove the Early Childhood Center student handbook and family guide.
