A member of the delegation shared personal recollections of competing with Sakisat on softball and basketball teams and described the deeper bond they discovered when tracing clan lineage. The resolution notes Sakisat's service in the United States Army and his induction into the CNMI Sports Hall of Fame in 2014 for more than three decades of contribution as an athlete, mentor and coach.
The draft resolution, read aloud during the recess, states the House's recognition of Sakisat's ‘‘exemplary service and selfless dedication to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands’’ and extends condolences to his wife, Rufan, their children and grandchildren. A family member thanked the delegation for the honor and the gathering closed with photographs.
The delegation returned to the preliminary session after the recess to complete roll call and resume scheduled business.
