Judiciary committee confirms Michael Tanoe to Commission to Promote Uniform Legislation

The Senate Judiciary Committee on March 20 voted to advise and consent to Governor Green's nomination of Michael Tanoe (GM 574) to continue as Hawaii's commissioner on the Commission to Promote Uniform Legislation.
Several supporters had signed up in favor of the nomination, including Jill Nagamine of the Attorney General's office, Lani Ewert, Peter Hamasaki, Bob Toyofuko and Elizabeth Kent. Tanoe told the committee he has served nearly four years, was appointed in 2022, and would like to continue for another two years. He described the experience as a valuable opportunity to work with national commissioners and said the delegation should focus on emerging national topics such as "artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data security."
With no further questions from members, the committee recorded affirmative votes and adopted the chair's recommendation of advice and consent. The committee briefly recessed after the vote and took a group photograph with the nominee.
