At its meeting the Angola City Historic Preservation Commission reviewed several community outreach items and administrative matters. Staff reported that the Smithsonian traveling exhibit "Voices and Votes" will be at the Carnegie Public Library from March 28 through May 10, and asked commissioners to help promote the exhibit and related tours.
Staff also described plans for the commission’s historic‑preservation month photo contest, which accepts photos of historic buildings in Stuben County; Main Street will provide prizes and staff said submitted photos may be used for outreach and projects. Staff said she will circulate a Spanish version of the contest flyer to broaden outreach.
The commission confirmed plans for a Circle Hill Cemetery tour on Oct. 23–24, 2026 in partnership with Main Street and TR University; final dates and promotional materials will be circulated by staff. Members reported other community events and upcoming exhibits (including items involving Indiana Landmarks and Electric Works) though some dates remain tentative.
Administrative items: the commission could not conduct elections at this meeting because a member was absent; elections were tabled until the next meeting when a full board is expected. Staff also reported increased interest in facade grants and certificate‑of‑appropriateness filings as warmer weather approaches.
