Ellen Mhoffer, senior marketing and community engagement lead at Intera Credit Union, asked the Goshen City Board of Public Works and Safety on March 5 to close the Powerhouse parking lot for the credit union’s annual shredding event. She said the group is requesting the lot be closed Friday, June 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with events 9–11 a.m. and 1–3 p.m., and Saturday, June 6, from 7:30 a.m. to noon with the event running 9–11 a.m.
Mhoffer told the board the event relies on staff and volunteers, will use directional signage to ensure orderly vehicle flow, and in 2025 collected 27,000 pounds of material. Board members asked no questions and moved to approve the requested closures and event dates; the motion passed unanimously.
The board did not impose special conditions at the meeting. The city will coordinate logistics with Intera Credit Union and the street department if barricades are requested.
