Lawrence City Utility Service Board approves $2,305 task order for Fort Harrison well staking and two sewer bill adjustments

The Utility Service Board of Lawrence City on March 10 approved a $2,305 task order to fund additional survey staking at the Fort Harrison well field and also approved two sanitary sewer account adjustments for individual property owners.
The meeting opened with the Chair announcing a quorum and welcoming Gregory Bright, the board’s newly appointed member from the city council. During the superintendent’s report, the Utility Superintendent said the board sought approval of Task Order No. 6 under the existing agreement with B&L (dated Oct. 25, 2022) to cover additional survey staking at new well site 7R for an amount not to exceed $2,305. “The Utility would like to welcome our newly appointed member from council, Mr. Gregory Bright,” the superintendent said while introducing the item.
The board also heard project updates: the Fort Harrison Collection System Capacity Improvement Phase 3 project is scheduled for completion by April 24, 2026, with remaining site restoration and asphalt/patch work. The 71st Street Lift Station Phase 1 inflow-and-infiltration removal project is expected to finish in early spring; contractor tentatively scheduled paving of road cuts between March 25 and 26, and several yard restorations remain.
Under new business, a motion to approve Task Order No. 6 was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote. The superintendent had described the task order as an addition to the October 25, 2022 agreement with B&L to pay for survey staking around well site 7R.
The board then approved two owner-requested sanitary sewer account adjustments recommended by staff: $350.82 for 12614 Bearsdale Drive, attributed to a slab leak, and $560.49 for 4620 Cotton Avenue, attributed to a service line leak. Both adjustments were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
There were no remonstrations of rate fees or disputes regarding disconnect notices, and no members of the public were present for citizen comments. The board adjourned after a voice vote.
The actions taken at the meeting were procedural approvals and project updates; no contested hearings or public appeals were recorded.
