The Noblesville utilities committee reported on March 9 that recent odor complaints stemmed from a pH imbalance in a treatment tank that managers said has been corrected, and described a package of immediate and upcoming fixes.
"There was a recent event that was tied to a pH imbalance in one of the treatment tanks that has since been corrected," said Mr. Elliott, a member of the utilities committee. Officials said the utility is working with outside experts and will install odor-control units, upgrade a digester and seal portions of the sewer system to reduce future incidents.
Committee presenters also said they plan to improve how odor complaints are logged and tracked. The committee highlighted that the utility system's 2025 financial report showed strong reserves; the presenters said much of those reserves will be committed to upcoming projects.
The committee recognized Kirk Staley for more than 30 years of public service during the meeting.
The council did not take action on utility policy at this meeting; the committee report outlines operational steps that staff will implement and monitor.
