The Aberdeen Town Board approved a consent agenda that included a budget amendment to the general fund for fiscal year 2025–26 to cover expenditures for new pickleball courts and scheduled two zoning map amendment public hearings for Sept. 22, 2025 at 6 p.m.
At the meeting, a board member moved to reorder the agenda, moving items four and five into the consent agenda as items 1B and 1C; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff then described the consent items: (A) approval of a budget amendment to fund pickleball court work; (B) scheduling a public hearing on zoning map amendment ZA2503, submitted by Drew Bass on behalf of McKe Homes, for about 35.5 acres east of US Highway 1551 (P-number 000049872) to change zoning from rural agriculture to R20 residential and to hear an associated annexation previously scheduled by resolution; and (C) scheduling a public hearing on zoning map amendment Z82506 by Cavanour Properties LLC for roughly 8.69 acres at 10395 NC-211 (P-number 00048923) to change zoning from R20 to R15 conditional residential.
A motion to approve the consent agenda as amended was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The board did not take additional formal action on the zoning items at this meeting; both will return for the advertised public hearings on Sept. 22, 2025.
The transcript lists the zoning references and parcel identifiers verbatim as presented to the board; staff and the consultant packet will contain the full legal descriptions and supporting exhibits for the hearings.
