Planner Schmidt told the commission that Fortuna has been awarded a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, mostly matched, to support acquisition of the Vansel Forest site but that some incidental fees remain unfunded.
“We were awarded the land and water conservation fund grant, mostly matched for the Vansel Forest acquisition,” Planner Schmidt said, while noting the city still needs additional funds to close incidental costs.
Schmidt also said staff and consultant kickoff meetings for a general plan update have occurred and that the city will recruit a technical advisory group; commissioners and council members cannot serve on that advisory group because they will later be the approving body for the plan.
Staff said it will email recruitment materials and draft flyers to solicit participation in advisory and outreach efforts. No formal vote was taken; this was an informational staff communication.
