Applicant for DAT Wingpot liquor license says parking secured and events will be limited

The Macomb City Council discussed a proposed Class R restaurant liquor license for DAT Wingpot LLC, which would operate at 920 West Jackson Street.

The applicant, present at the meeting, told the council it has discussed parking with the adjacent property owner and expects to formalize a written agreement. "Yes. Uh yeah, we we have options for it. the the business next door. We talked to the owner of that business and they said uh we can use their parking spot whenever we need to and we will uh get some documentation that we can use their parking," the applicant said, describing contingency plans for events.

Alderman Dorset had raised concerns about parking and occasional live-music or special events, asking whether the applicant had considered options to prevent late-night disturbances. The applicant said the business plans to favor earlier-day events, to work with local car clubs and neighbors, and to coordinate with police so activities are planned and controlled rather than spontaneous.

City staff clarified the documentation and physical requirements for additional parking. "We would just need to see any sort of material in terms of agreement whether it be with a property owner or a business owner and exactly what those spaces are," Miss Lambert said. She added that "if it's any sort of new parking, it would need to be a concrete. It would need to be a dustless surface such as concrete or asphalt. Um, if it's one that's already ready gravel that can be grandfathered in."

Council members did not vote on the license at the meeting. The council directed that the matter be placed on the agenda for second reading and final action at next week's council meeting.
