Anderson City Council passed ordinance 33-25 on third reading to rezone a 13.44-acre parcel at 2927 South Rangeline Road from R3/I2 to I1. The petitioner, Michael Johnson, told the council he plans to renovate the house on the property and locate his tree-trimming business, Modern Tree Solutions, on-site. Staff described the property’s split zoning and existing outbuildings the petitioner intends to use.
Councilors and members of the public asked about outside storage for equipment. Staff noted that any outside storage would require a special exception from the Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Johnson said he planned to pursue that exception if needed. After questions from residents and council members, the council voted in favor of the ordinance. The measure now awaits the signatures of the council president and the mayor.
