Stigler School Board approves contracts, personnel moves and FCCLA trip

The Stigler School Board on March 9 unanimously approved a slate of routine financial encumbrances and personnel actions and cleared a student trip to Washington, D.C.
In a single series of votes the board approved continuing the district’s financial‑accounting service agreement with ADPC for the 2026–27 school year, contracted Patton & Odum to audit the 2025–26 financial records and serve as auditors for 2026–27, and authorized encumbrances that included relocating grade‑school internet fiber, middle‑school gym HVAC work and security cameras funded by a security grant.
The board also approved out‑of‑state travel for the FCCLA chapter, allowing sponsor Aspen Quick to take students to the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., July 5–11, 2026; students will be transported by school vehicle to Tulsa airport to fly to the convention. The board noted prior fundraisers had been approved to support the trip.
After convening briefly in executive session under the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act (25 O.S. § 307(B)(1)) to discuss personnel matters, the board returned to open session and voted to continue employment of central administrators for 2026–27: Tony Gilmore as federal programs director and assistant superintendent; Scott Shepard as high school principal; Michelle Moore as middle school principal; and Melanie Garmin as grade school principal. The board also voted to employ Bradley Fields as the softball coach for 2026–27. A resignation by grade‑school custodian Colby Ross, effective March 6, 2026, was accepted.
Board members recorded that monthly bills for the district were about $89,000 for the month discussed (compared with roughly $120,000 in the same month last year). The board said the general fund balance was higher than the prior year and that building and child‑nutrition funds were in good shape. During the superintendent’s report the high‑school band was commended for superior ratings and state‑qualifying results, and upcoming events such as parent‑teacher conferences and spring break were announced.
All roll‑call votes reported at the meeting were unanimous (Kenny Witson, Carly Stubblefield and David Huggin voting yes on recorded motions). No members of the public spoke during the public‑comment portion of the agenda. The board adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
