The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners on March 9 approved a condemnation request for Parcel 17 on the 281st Street Phase One project and authorized an interim phased four-way stop at the intersection of 186 and Eagletown Road.
Highway department staff recommended the condemnation to maintain progress on the 281st Street project; the board moved and approved the request after staff said negotiations on the parcel will continue. Commissioner Alman and the other commissioners voted in favor on the roll call.
Staff also reported on a traffic study that consolidated six citizen requests into two locations. At 146th Street and Gray Road the department can extend southbound left-turn green time but declined additional requests because of heavy westbound morning traffic. For 186 and Eagletown Road, staff described reversing an earlier plan and installing a phased four-way stop instead, posting it as an interim measure to condition drivers to stop and then adjusting signal timing or configuration later to improve traffic flow.
Commissioner Brandt noted staff had communicated with local resident Gloria Delg Greco, who was “very pleased” with the outreach, and the board approved the interim stop by roll call. The county will monitor traffic flow and may make further adjustments based on observed conditions and additional data.
