Nashoba committee reviews redesigned website draft to make meeting materials easier to find
Summary
The Nashoba Regional School Committee reviewed an initial draft of a redesigned school committee website on Jan. 28, 2026. Communications coordinator Bridget Hanigan walked trustees through improved navigation, ADA compliance, a weekly meeting summary, and proposed ‘ask the school committee’ features; members asked for better discoverability of meeting materials and suggested routing detailed feedback through the communications subcommittee.

Bridget Hanigan, the district’s communications specialist and innovation pathways coordinator, presented “the initial draft of the school committee website update” and gave a screen walkthrough of the proposed layout, links and features.
The draft groups high-interest items into clear sections with icons and drop-downs, Hanigan said, and includes a rotating weekly area linking to the next meeting and a follow-up with a meeting video after each meeting. The draft also links committee goals, meeting calendars, subcommittee pages, budget materials and the NRSD policy manual.
Committee members praised the design but pressed for practical changes. Committee member Shandor called it a “massive improvement,” and several members urged improved discoverability of meeting materials so residents need not know which meeting to search to find a specific document. Shandor suggested opening embedded videos on a dedicated page and widening embed columns so video content is viewable.
Members asked that the district elevate the DEIB statement on the page and clarify the public hearings bucket so visitors immediately see which hearings relate to budget and school choice. Several trustees recommended the top of the page feature the next school committee meeting with a direct link to that meeting’s agenda and materials, rather than duplicating links already in a longer meeting calendar.
Hanigan said the draft is linked in the superintendent’s report and that the project will proceed in stages: identifying any additional supporting pages, building an "ask the school committee" form, and creating sustainable maintenance practices. She asked the committee to identify which internal documents (for member orientation and committee files) should appear on the public page and which should remain internal.
The committee agreed to a two-track feedback process: funnel minor, detailed edits by email to Amy Cohen for compilation, and bring substantive structural suggestions to the communications subcommittee for a working meeting with Hanigan. No formal vote was taken; trustees directed staff to refine the draft and return with any substantive revisions at a future subcommittee meeting.
The committee moved on to other agenda items after the discussion; Hanigan thanked members for feedback and said she would revise the draft based on the committee’s priorities.
