The mayor reported that a signalized traffic light has been installed and is now operational at the intersection of Washington Fields Road where Merrill and Lost Ridge intersect, saying the intersection "met warrants." He added that additional traffic signals are included in the Fiscal Year 2027 budget, which begins July 1, including one planned for Buena Vista Boulevard at the entrance to the Brio development.
The mayor said the One Health Clinic at the Brio entrance is nearing completion and will restore primary and pediatric medical care to Washington City after about a decade without those services. "Bringing back primary, pediatric, medical care to Washington City that's been lacking for about a decade," he said.
On a 14-acre site south of Buena Vista Boulevard near the top of Main, the mayor said fencing and heavy equipment are preparing the parcel for a WinCo grocery store and that additional outbuildings for restaurants and retail are included in the updated site plan. He said construction takes time and anticipates an opening in late summer to fall 2027.
The mayor also reported road widening work and added commercial pads and ingress/egress improvements along Buena Vista Boulevard to support further commercial development, and he said a Hilton-brand hotel and a credit union office building are under construction where Buena Vista intersects with Green Spring.
No formal votes or approvals were recorded in the update; the mayor concluded with community safety reminders and said he will provide further updates next month.
