Springfield Township committee adopts two ordinances, approves consent resolutions and holiday event permit

Springfield Township’s governing committee adopted two ordinances and a set of consent resolutions in a routine meeting that also approved a holiday event permit and referred a new police job title to a final hearing.

At the meeting, the committee adopted ordinance 2025-19, which amends chapter 4 (general licensing) to add provisions governing redemption amusement devices, and ordinance 2025-20, which restricts distribution of single-use food-service items by food and beverage providers unless the item is requested by the customer. Both ordinances were approved by roll call vote with Committeeman Kaiser, Deputy Mayor Laugher, Committeeman Weber and Mayor Huber recorded as voting "Yes." The ordinances were read into the record by Madame Clark and scheduled for publication in the Local Source on Dec. 4, 2025 where required.

The committee also approved a first reading of ordinance 2025-22 to create the position of Operational Support Specialist in the police department, a title that formalizes duties currently being performed by an existing employee. The ordinance was ordered published with a final hearing set for Dec. 16, 2025.

By consent, the committee adopted resolutions 2025-282 through 2025-294 in a single roll-call action. The meeting minutes list those resolutions as approved by the same four voting members.

The committee approved a request from Kabad of Springfield to hold the township’s 13th annual Menorah lighting at Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday, Dec. 14, with use of a bucket lift and auxiliary police presence; the applicant will provide a hold-harmless agreement and a certificate of insurance. Committee members emphasized they would defer to safety considerations, including weather, before the event proceeds.

The meeting concluded routine business without further action; the committee indicated any unresolved issues would return to a future agenda.
