Sharon Gibson said nearly 100 council members across all nine regions responded (about a 50% response rate). Councils reported a strong foundation and effective operations; staff was consistently cited as a major strength. Areas identified for improvement included clearer state-board and regional alignment, stronger project pipelines and applicant readiness, better new-member onboarding and role clarity, and increased use of the competitive (multi-region) fund.
At least one member raised concern about the adequacy of the $250,000 per-region operational allocation, noting that the number has been unchanged since the program's early years and may not be sufficient to retain qualified staff who shepherd projects through development and board review.
John King said the committee will work with board leadership to interpret the data and identify next steps, and staff will provide additional information and presentations to the committee and regional councils as follow-up.
